  • Overview

    Primary responsibility is to provide competitor activity analysis for an assigned area. Participate as a team member with Land, Business Development and Technical Staff to develop exploration and production opportunities.  Deliver critical information from public sources as well as information developed through scouting activities to convey through reports and scouting meetings. Serve as FourPoint’s representative in the scouting community and organizations.

    Responsibilities

    • Investigates and collects information concerning drilling operations, geological prospecting, and land and lease contracts from public sources, lease brokers, individuals, and organizations leading to a better understanding of areas of interest or possible discovery of new fields.
    • Interprets relevant information from outside sources and effectively conveys findings to in-house landmen, geologists, and engineers
    • Capture competitor data and information that will assist the technical teams in analyzing competitor strategies.
    • Central point of contact for data trades. Coordinate and track data requests and trades.  Responsible for making sure data is delivered to appropriate people inside and outside of FourPoint.
    • Prepare weekly reports concerning significant drilling operations, geophysical activity as directed.
    • Attend Scout meetings and appropriate functions to maintain industry networks.
    • Serve as liaison between FourPoint technical staff and their counterparts at other companies.
    • Provide periodic work status presentations for assigned areas

    Qualifications

    Education, Skills and Experience Required

    • The education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree and four years of related scout/field experience within the oil and gas industry.
    • Must be able to interact and communicate in a positive, professional manner with individuals at all levels within and outside of the organization. Strong negotiation and research skills.
    • Detail oriented
    • Experience in acquisitions and divestitures.
    • Must have general knowledge of E&P, oil and gas accounting, marketing.
    • Must have knowledge of land work in a variety of oil and gas producing states (OK and TX preferred), including governmental regulations and oil and gas law.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects under minimal supervision.
    • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment.
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • Ability to multi task and provide support to a number of groups simultaneously.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    Physical Requirements

    • Sitting, visual and mental acuity, manual dexterity, hearing, speaking.
    • Ability to work at computer for long periods of time.
    • Travel required

    Environmental Conditions

    • Works indoors in office environment with frequent local and overnight travel.
